I offer 1:1 creative guidance for anyone who would like to deepen their existing practice/s, overcome creative blocks, begin to materialise their thoughts, hone particular skills or simply nurture their relationship to the creative self. The rhythm and texture of the ‘curriculum’ will vary greatly from person to person, but at its core, this process is about becoming more intimate with the ways in which you express your reality. I understand art to be an act of translation, between the internal and external, in constant cycle.
There are many wonderful forms of expression and creativity that do not fit the traditional colonial model of ‘art’, which tends to stick closely to convention, and tends to be rigid in its self-perception. Creativity is much more fluid than this understanding. Your creative practice may be collaging, sewing, cooking, speaking, arranging stones, or organising a space. Once we understand art as a relationship or mode of being rather than a singular product, we begin to open ourselves to becoming an artist. Which really just means giving your creative self time, attention and respect.
The curriculum will be loosely built around a four part structure of in person sessions which will grow and shift around your unique position. I will give you exercises to do in between sessions so that you begin building creative habits and routine (approx. 1 hour of homework per session).
